Trio of copper wire thieves nabbed in vacant Pleasanton building: PD

( KRON ) — Three suspected thieves were caught with burglary tools and copper wire in a vacant building by police — all thanks to a timely tip from an alert resident, said the Pleasanton Police Department.

The incident happened around 2 p.m. Wednesday when PPD officers responded to a report of suspicious individuals entering the empty building near the 4100 block of Hopyard Road.

After setting up a police perimeter and search of the building, Pleasanton police located three men — described to be in their 50s and 60s — with the break-in tools and copper wire in their possession (pictured below) .

“Thanks to a quick-thinking community member, we were able to stop a crime in progress!” said Pleasanton PD in a social media post. “Don’t forget: If you see something, say something.”

Police said the suspects were arrested at the scene and taken to Santa Rita Jail…
