Latest Microsoft layoffs impact dozens of Bay Area workers

(KRON) — Widespread layoffs at Microsoft have impacted dozens of employees in the Bay Area. Earlier this week, it was reported that the tech giant would be reducing its global workforce by 3%.

On Thursday, a filing with the California Employment Development Department confirmed that some 86 employees in the Bay Area look set to lose their jobs as a result of the layoffs. The Bay Area Microsoft layoffs are impacting workers at three local facilities, according to the EDD filing.

One employee at the company’s East Middlefield Road facility in Mountain View will be laid off along with three at the Microsoft Building on Scott Boulevard in Santa Clara. The majority of the Bay Area layoffs, however, will be at Microsoft’s office on La Avenida Street in Mountain View, where 82 people will lose their jobs.
