Burglary suspect facing new charges after unrelated search warrant

(KRON) – A man suspected of committing multiple burglaries is facing assault with a deadly weapon charges after an unrelated search warrant, according to the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.

Around 1:55 a.m. on Feb. 24, authorities responded to a business in the 500 block of Lawrence Expressway due to a glass break alarm. Arriving officers found that multiple nearby businesses had been burglarized.

SDPS later found a suspect, and he fled on foot. Police said during the pursuit, they heard gunshot noises. The suspect was apprehended and identified as 28-year-old Mountain View resident, Walter Chicas. Police did not find any firearms on Chicas. He was booked into a local jail on several counts of burglary and other charges.
