VTA Karina Court Station shut down due to suspicious package investigation

(KRON) — The Karina Court VTA light rail station in San Jose was shut down Tuesday morning due to a suspicious package. According to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office, an investigation is underway near Karina Court and North First Street.

Officials got a call about the package just before 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. The device, according to SCCSO, was found near a bench at the station. It was described by authorities as a Thermos-type container with electronics attached to it.

As of around 10:35 a.m., the SCCSO Bomb Squad was enroute. Shelter-in-place orders are in effect for surrounding businesses.

North First Street between East Brokaw Road and Charcot Avenue is shut down due to the investigation. People are being advised to avoid the area until further notice…
