Mountain View Police Nab Suspected Serial Burglar with Multi-City Task Force Assistance

Mountain View has been grappling with a series of residential break-ins, but a recent break in the case might restore some peace to local homeowners. Mountain View Police Department announced the arrest of 25-year-old local resident Jesus Tapia, the prime suspect in several burglaries that have haunted the community since the beginning of 2025.

After an in-depth probe by the department’s Crime Suppression Unit (CSU), it was a collaborative push that brought the alleged burglar into custody, on May 1, when the SWAT team, with some help from neighboring forces, stormed Tapia’s residence, laying the groundwork for his apprehension, this multi-agency approach involving Redwood City Police Department, Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety, and Campbell Police Department would not be forgotten, as each played a critical role in the case.

The operation yielded not only Tapia’s arrest but also the recovery of a firearm and additional evidence connecting him to the crimes. Charged with six counts of residential burglary, under California Penal Code Section 459, the suspect now finds himself at the Santa Clara County Main Jail, awaiting the wheels of justice to turn…
