Report: ICE detains people behind South San Jose supermarket

Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained an unknown number of people outside Chavez Supermarket in South San Jose on Wednesday, NBC Bay Area reported.

Immigration officials detained people behind the store on Blossom Hill Road near Cahalan Avenue less than a mile from where four people were detained the previous day.

“Those arrested had executable final orders of removal by an immigration judge and had not complied with that order,” a spokesperson for ICE said in a statement.

The detentions in San Jose come a week after activists decried arrests of immigrants in the San Francisco and Concord immigration courts as people were leaving their court hearings…
