San Jose Man Arrested in Nevada County for Attempted $30,000 Scam on Senior Citizen

A San Jose man was arrested by Nevada County Sheriff’s deputies for his involvement in a scheme to defraud a senior woman out of $30,000, a scam which was thwarted due to the timely intervention of her observant friend and quick-acting law enforcement. According to a social media post by the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect, Rushabh Rajesh Desai, age 35, was located by a deputy after the victim’s friend reported the ongoing phone scam and a suspect collection attempt.

This incident marks not the first but another guarded triumph for NCSO, mirroring a September 2024 event where deputies stepped in to save another elderly woman from a similar fate.
