Suspected Gunman Arrested in Connection with San Leandro’s First Homicide of the Year

The San Leandro Police Department has apprehended a suspect in the city’s first homicide of the year, with the death of 47-year-old Ryan Christie. According to a release from the San Leandro Police Department, officers discovered Christie on the morning of June 14, lying unresponsive on the ground at the intersection of Euclid Avenue and East 14th Street, his pet dog still leashed to his hand. An investigation revealed he had been shot once in the back, the fatal event likely occurring around 11 PM the night before.

The breakthrough in the case came after detectives from the Crimes against Persons Unit and Crime Suppression Unit developed leads that pointed to 49-year-old Andre Williams of San Leandro as a suspect. Williams was arrested at an apartment complex in Tracy, CA, on Monday. Further searches at two separate residences linked to the suspect yielded additional evidence. As the SLPD conveyed, “Williams was taken into custody at an apartment complex in the 2700 block of Pavilion Parkway in Tracy, CA.”…
