Missing Fremont teen planned to see people she met online, police say

A missing 16-year-old Fremont girl may have gone to meet people with whom she previously interacted online, said police Thursday.

In a note to her family, Katie Hong, 16, expressed the intention of running away to meet people who she knew only by “online screen names,” the Fremont Police Department said in a news release.

Katie was seen by surveillance cameras walking from her residence on Queens Park Court to Irvington Community Park between 6:11 and 6:21 p.m July 25, police said. She had a large, red backpack and was carrying what looked like a computer, police said…
