Driver strikes and kills pedestrian in San Jose

A man was killed Sunday after being struck by a vehicle in San Jose, officials said.

At around 10:55 p.m., officers responded to a collision report around Payne Avenue and Winchester Boulevard, according to a statement released Monday by the San Jose Police Department.

Investigators said a driver in 2018 black Chevy truck carrying one additional passenger was traveling westbound on Payne Avenue when it struck a pedestrian who was crossing Payne Avenue outside of a marked crosswalk.
