(KRON) — The passenger of a wrong-way car on Highway 17 was killed in a head-on crash overnight Saturday, according to the San Jose California Highway Patrol Area Office. Authorities believe the wrong-way driver was under the influence.
CHP was first alerted at 12:38 a.m. to the wrong-way vehicle, a Toyota Camry, driving northbound in the southbound lanes of Highway 17, south of Santa Cruz Avenue. At that time, the Toyota drove another vehicle off the roadway as it attempted to avoid a collision, authorities said.
