SAN MATEO, CA — “On September 7, 2025, at 3:08 p.m., San Mateo Police Department officers responded to the 1600 block of Roberta Drive following a report of an assault that had just occurred.
The adult victim reported being struck in the mouth with a firearm during a verbal altercation. After the initial assault, the suspect, identified as 39-year-old Jose Alvaradovasquez, allegedly punched and kneed the victim while they were on the ground.
Responding officers arrived shortly after the call and observed Alvaradovasquez entering a vehicle. As he began to drive away, officers conducted a traffic stop. During the stop, Alvaradovasquez was found to be in possession of two rounds of 9mm ammunition and suspected methamphetamine. He was placed under arrest for driving under the influence.
A search of the immediate area led officers to an unserialized firearm, a magazine, and additional ammunition hidden in nearby bushes approximately 10 feet from where Alvaradovasquez was first seen…
