A San Francisco elementary school community has launched a fundraiser to support the family of Robert Paul Byrd II, the father who was fatally stabbed after picking his son up from Commodore Sloat Elementary School last week.
The school’s Parent Club Organization created the GoFundMe campaign Saturday, describing Byrd as “a devoted father, a loving son, and a joyful presence to everyone who knew him.” The group added, “His greatest love was his son, who was holding his hand in the moments before this tragedy occurred.”
By Sunday afternoon, the fundraiser had collected more than $36,000 toward its $45,000 goal, with more than 300 donations.
