Family mourns e-scooter rider killed by San Jose SAP Center

(KRON) — A family is mourning the death of a San Francisco woman who was killed while riding an electric scooter by the SAP Center in San Jose earlier this month.

Monica Ibarra, 52, and her scooter were hit by a stolen black Dodge Ram pickup truck on September 8 near the intersection of Santa Clara and Cahill streets, authorities said. San Jose police said the truck driver immediately fled from the scene and ditched the truck blocks away.

Police later found and arrested the suspected hit-and-run driver, 33-year-old Justin Perez of San Jose, on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter…
