A Bay Area coffee chain is going cashless after a string of break-ins

A well-known Bay Area coffee chain is going cashless after a string of break-ins that left employees and owners increasingly concerned for safety.

Voyager Craft Coffee, which operates several cafés across the South Bay, announced Sunday that starting this week, it will no longer accept cash. The decision comes after more than 20 burglaries over the past decade — including three in the past three weeks alone.

“Over the past 10 years, our cafés have been broken into more than 20 times — with three of those incidents happening just in the last few weeks,” the company wrote in an Instagram post. “The safety of our baristas and guests is our top priority, and we can no longer risk putting them in harm’s way.”…
