Beloved Peninsula steakhouse closing after 20 years

(KRON) — Izzy’s on the Peninsula, a beloved San Carlos steakhouse, is closing next month after two decades. The steakhouse will serve its final dinner on Saturday, Oct. 4.

“After twenty wonderful years serving the San Carlos community, Izzy’s on the Peninsula will be closing its doors after our final dinner service on Saturday, October 4th,” the restaurant posted on Instagram. “We are incredibly proud of the memories created here…the thousands of meals served, special moments shared, and most of all, the dedication of our team who have delivered warm, genuine hospitality day after day.”

Izzy’s on the Peninsula first opened its doors in 2005 as an offshoot of Izzy’s Steaks & Chops, a San Francisco Marina District spot that has been in business since 1987.

The restaurants, according to the Izzy’s website, were inspired by Izzy Gomez, a Portuguese immigrant, chef and restaurateur who opened a saloon in North Beach and later served 30 days in jail for bootlegging…
