Man allegedly steals firearm from Mountain View gun shop, owner fires shot

(KRON) — A convicted felon who allegedly stole a handgun from a Mountain View gun shop and took off running stopped in his tracks when the owner fired a shot into the air, according to police.

The Mountain View Police Department responded Wednesday around 1:48 p.m. to E2’s Gun Vault at 363 West El Camino Real on a report of theft and gunfire. Authorities said that the suspect, Aaron Campbell, 33, of Mountain View, went into the gun store and “immediately ran out with a firearm he had not purchased.”

The gun shop’s owner, Edgar Estebanez, along with another employee ran after Campbell for several blocks before Estebanez fired a single gunshot in the air, MVPD said. According to authorities, the shot was not directed at Campbell or anyone else…
