Grand opening date announced for newest Mega Mart in Bay Area

(KRON) — The opening of a highly anticipated Korean supermarket on the Peninsula is here. Mega Mart will have the grand opening of its East Palo Alto store on Wednesday, Sept. 24, the grocery chain announced.

The store will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Customers can also attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:30 a.m. The Mega Mart in East Palo Alto is located at 1775 E Bayshore Road — the former site of a Target that shuttered in fall 2024. Starting Sept. 25, Mega Mart in East Palo Alto will open daily at 8 a.m.

According to Mega Mart, customers can expect the following at the East Palo Alto location:

  • Authentic Korean groceries and fresh produce
  • Pogu Picnic with dosirak meal boxes by Michelin starred Chef Tony Yoo
  • A wide selection of K-beauty essentials
  • Basquia Bakery with specialty rice breads, sulpang, cakes, and more
  • A deli serving hot and ready Korean street foods

Mega Mart in East Palo Alto marks the third location in the Bay Area, joining Sunnyvale and Fremont.
