Award-winning grocery store to open new Bay Area supermarket

After opening four Bay Area grocery stores in the lastthreeyears, Sprouts Farmers Market is set to open one more before the year’s end.

A new Sprouts supermarket is headed to San Leandro in November. Located at 1188 E. 14th St., the store is expected to open on Nov. 14, according to a press release. Sprouts Farmers Market is known for providing a “farmers market experience” in stores by using an “open layout” where the produce is at the center of the floor plan. The company also has many of its products bunched together by diet. Shoppers can find food items for a plant-based diet, a gluten-free diet, a keto diet and more, all in the same section.

Though headquartered in Phoenix, Sprouts has over 150 stores in California. Its most recent Northern California markets were opened in Pittsburg, Hayward and two in San Jose.

According to the press release, a grand opening celebration will be announced closer to opening day. For its Pittsburg opening celebration in June, giveaways included reusable goodie bags for the first 200 shoppers on the first two days. Additionally, the first 400 guests that arrived on opening day received long-stemmed roses. At its Hayward grand opening in Sept. 2024, the company had a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a “guess the weight” contest for oversized produce…
