In a tragic turn of events, a female pedestrian was struck and subsequently died after a morning collision yesterday in Redwood City. The incident, which took place around 12:11 AM at the intersection of Woodside Road and Veterans Boulevard, led to a swift response from local police officers who rushed to the scene after receiving a report of a woman lying on the pavement, according to a release from the Redwood City Police Department.
Officers found the 32-year-old victim about 100 feet east of the intersection, immediately performing CPR until medical personnel arrived. Despite their efforts, the woman, after being transported to Stanford Hospital, was pronounced dead. The driver involved in the unfortunate incident stopped and fully cooperated with investigators, clearly shaken, providing a voluntary PAS test and blood draw, which confirmed the absence of alcohol or drugs in their system. With the vehicle towed for evidence, the driver told officials that the collision occurred eastbound on Woodside Road with a green light in their favor, when he collided with the pedestrian with a loud impact.
A witness to the incident offered another perspective, claiming to have been crossing the street with the deceased before the collision.
