Palo Alto man faces attempted murder charges after argument stabbing

(KRON) — An argument spilled outside of a Palo Alto business and quickly turned violent Thursday night, leading to a man being stabbed multiple times, said the Palo Alto Police Department.

PAPD said a patrol officer was flagged down by the male victim at 11:34 p.m. on the 400 block of Ramona Street. The man, believed to be in his twenties, told police that he had gotten into an argument with the suspect while inside a business on the 400 block of Waverly Street.

“The argument continued outside where it became physical,” said Palo Alto PD in a statement to KRON4. “During the altercation, the victim was stabbed multiple times.  The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival.”

The victim was taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect, identified as Diyar Polat, 36, of Palo Alto, was located by police nearby and detained without incident, Palo Alto police confirmed…
