A Bay Area woman is still missing after search crews spent “countless hours” looking for her over the weekend at a popular hiking trail, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. But on Sunday, officials suspended the search, the sheriff’s office said.
Sunshine Borjas, a 47-year-old woman from Santa Rosa, was last reported leaving her home on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. to hike alone at the Bodega Head Trail, a 2-mile loop hike along the Sonoma Coast. Borjas’ family reported her missing around midnight Thursday, Patricia Seffens, a spokesperson for the Santa Rosa Police Department, previously told SFGATE.
On Thursday, authorities found Borjas’ vehicle in the Bodega Head parking lot, police said. The search team for Borjas included the U.S. Coast Guard, canines, drones, marine boats and a helicopter.
Authorities are now waiting for new leads on where to continue looking for Borjas, and the investigation has been handed off to the Santa Rosa Police Department…
