Car reportedly flew onto city streets in fatal Highway 101 crash

A 33-year-old man died after crashing a car on a Highway 101 off-ramp in San Mateo early Sunday, authorities said.

The BMW sedan crashed into a concrete barrier in the northbound lanes near Peninsula Avenue around 4:15 a.m. The car then went “flying onto city streets,” NBC Bay Area reported.

A highway patrol officer “said that the driver drove from Peninsula Ave off-ramp at an unknown speed into the dirt area and proceeded through the intersection onto Airport Boulevard, where the vehicle collided into a concrete wall,” a CHP spokesperson told the Chronicle…
