As thousands of families across the California Bay Area face depleted SNAP benefits, local farmers markets and community organizations are stepping up with immediate relief efforts.At the Marin Civic Center’s Sunday farmers market, vendors are offering free and discounted food to families in need. Fire Swamp Provisions owner Alex Tishman is providing fresh baked goods on an honor system, telling families: “Just tell us how many people you need to feed, we’ll give you whatever we can.”The Agricultural Institute of Marin, which operates 9 certified farmers markets across the region, has established an emergency fund to provide free produce to more than 1,200 households.Beyond individual vendors, county governments are preparing significant emergency responses. Marin County supervisors will vote next week on $800,000 in emergency funding for local food banks, while Contra Costa County is considering using $20 million in reserve funds for grocery debit cards to help over 100,000 SNAP…..
