2 bodies found inside Bay Area liquor store after early morning fire

Authorities are investigating after two people were found dead inside a Bay Area liquor store that caught fire early Monday morning.

Fire crews were called to Avenue Liquors on Roosevelt Avenue in Redwood City at about 5:30 a.m., the Redwood City Police Department said in a news release. When firefighters arrived, the building was “engulfed in flames,” the department said. As crews were putting out the flames, they opened the roof and saw two people inside.

The two people showed “no signs of life” and had “severe burns,” police said, and they were pronounced dead at the scene. Nearby residents and store customers told the San Mateo Daily Journal that they believe the deceased were two workers. However, authorities have not identified the two people and it’s unclear why they were inside the building at the time…
