An allegedly drunk Tesla driver crashed into a utility pole in Santa Rosa on Tuesday, triggering a widespread blackout across the region, police said.
Several 911 callers reported around 12:20 p.m. that a white Tesla had crashed into a Pacific Gas and Electric Co. power pole near 1940 Piner Road, causing power lines to fall to the ground and triggering an extensive power outage affecting up to approximately 20,000 area residents, the Santa Rosa Police Department said in a statement.
Witnesses reported seeing the driver, later identified as Anthony Turnbull, 46, walk away from the crash after throwing what appeared to be an alcohol bottle into a nearby grass area…
