(KRON) — Police in San Jose announced Wednesday that five more arrests have been made in connection with the violent smash-and-grab robbery that occurred in early September at Kim Hung Jewelry. Total arrests in the case now sit at 13 after eight others were previously arrested in October.
On Sept. 5, just after 2 p.m., a vehicle rammed through the business’s front door at 1904 Aborn Road. In less than a minute, a mob of suspects smashed display cases, stole thousands of dollars worth of merchandise and fled in several vehicles. During the robbery, one victim inside the jewelry store had a firearm pointed at him, and another victim, an elderly man, was forcefully shoved to the ground.
The elderly victim was hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries, the San Jose Police Department said.
On Wednesday, authorities announced the arrests of the following robbery suspects:
- Dennis Campos-Torres, 22, of Richmond
- Fati Johnson, 32, of Oakland
- Keimaree Dews, 18, of San Francisco
- Jonathan Caruso, 25, of San Francisco
- Giovann Caliz, 32, of Livermore
Caliz, SJPD said, was already in custody for an unrelated crime in Santa Clara County and was extradited on Oct. 28 to San Jose…
