CHP shuts down garbage hauler with 4 bad brakes, 3 flat tires, and 2 faulty air lines

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) put the brakes on a commercial vehicle driver for operating with a long list of serious equipment violations.

On December 5, 2025, CHP troopers with the Nimitz Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Facility located in Fremont, California, reported taking a garbage hauler off the road after it entered the scale house with brake, tire, and air line equipment violations.

“Another dangerous rig taken off the road! This garbage hauler rolled into our facility with a laundry list of violations that had it one breakdown away from disaster. Four inoperative brakes, three flat tires, two faulty air lines, and yes…it looked like it hit a partridge in a pear tree on the way here,” CHP said.

Troopers said that multiple out-of-service violations were issued, and the “driver was shut down on the spot.”…
