AC Transit implements tap-to-pay and free local transfers

Starting Dec. 10, AC Transit and nearly two dozen Bay Area transit agencies will institute new upgrades as part of the Next Generation Clipper initiative.

These include upgrades to physical and digital Clipper cards, as well as a new option to accept contactless credit and debit cards for adult fares on bus routes, according to an AC Transit press release.
