The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of an inmate after the apparent suicide of a 27-year-old man at Oakland’s Wiley W. Manuel Courthouse on Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
Enrique Gonsalez-Cruz, of Oakland, was found unresponsive with a ligature around his neck at the Washington Street courthouse. He was taken in an ambulance to a hospital, where he died around 2:30 p.m., sheriff’s officials said.
Gonsalez-Cruz was found in a holding cell near a courtroom, according to sources with knowledge of the matter who were not authorized to speak to the media. The sources were granted anonymity based on Chronicle policies…
