As Bay Area revelers get ready to ring in 2026, many transit agencies will offer free rides to get to events and back home, including free Muni rides in San Francisco, just in case driving is not an option.
Starting at 8 p.m. on New Year’s Eve to 5 a.m. the following morning, the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA), as planned, will offer free Muni rides on all its routes and lines. Transportation officials are reminding passengers not to tag the fare readers with Clipper or activate a MuniMobile ticket during the hours when rides are free.
