A beloved Bay Area destination for imported Spanish goods, from tinned fish and jamón Ibérico to wine, is facing eviction proceedings from its landlord.
The owner of the Spanish Table owes just under $25,000 in unpaid rent, according to an unlawful detainer filed in December by attorneys for Vertex Property Group, which owns the 130 Clement St. building. The store, dark and its shelves emptied, has been closed since November. Since then, the Spanish Table website has listed it as temporarily closed; it’s unclear whether it will reopen. Spanish Table owner Bastian Schoell did not respond to multiple requests for comment.
Schoell did not pay his $8,269 monthly rent in San Francisco from September through November, according to the eviction notice. An attorney for Vertex Property Group did not respond to requests for comment…
