(KRON) — Police in the East Bay investigating a chaotic attempted armed carjacking on Tuesday found and arrested three suspects in Oakland, according to the San Leandro Police Department.
The attempted carjacking occurred around 2:30 p.m. near the San Leandro intersection of Polvorosa Avenue and Doolittle Drive. Authorities said several masked suspects armed with handguns and rifles got out of two vehicles and attempted the carjacking. The victim was able to get away in their vehicle unharmed.
Detectives using Flock license plate reader cameras tracked one of the suspect vehicles, a white Mercedes SUV, into Oakland. An officer in the area located the Mercedes on 82nd Avenue, where a vehicle pursuit was initiated, police said.
The Mercedes stopped in the 100 block of Glenwood Glade, and three suspects fled on foot into the neighborhood, according to authorities.
