Keke Palmer leads a Bay Area shoplifting gang in Boots Riley’s ‘I Love Boosters’

The first trailer for “I Love Boosters” has arrived, promising another vibrant, politically sharp ride from Oakland filmmaker Boots Riley.

The heist comedy follows Corvette (Keke Palmer), who leads a group of women called the Velvet Gang. They begin “boosting” — slang for shoplifting — from high-end stores, targeting a particular fashion mogul (Demi Moore) and reselling the pieces at a discount.

“I shop here a lot, and I feel like I should have it all,” Palmer says in the opening scene of the trailer, released Tuesday, Jan. 27. “I just want to take it all home, heat it up and shoot it out my eyes. I just feel like, ‘Give it to me. It’s mine anyway.’”…
