Freestyle skiing star Eileen Gu, who is from San Francisco but is competing for China at the Winter Olympics and has won two silver medals in Milan this month, said she has been assaulted and robbed during her time at Stanford as a student.
In a story published by the Athletic on Tuesday, Gu discussed the scrutiny she’s faced for her controversial decision to represent China despite growing up in San Francisco and attending school in the Bay Area – including Stanford since the fall of 2022. While Gu is taking the year off from the school to focus on the Olympics, she said she has been attacked during her time on the Palo Alto campus.
“Physically assaulted on the street. The police were called,” Gu said, according to the Athletic. She later added, “I’ve had death threats. I’ve had my dorm robbed.”…
