A 59-year-old woman was struck by a car on Tuesday near the 23000 block of Mission Boulevard in Hayward and later died at the hospital, according to police. Officers responded around 9:20 PM, and the woman was taken for emergency treatment before she was ultimately pronounced dead.
As reported by the San Francisco Chronicle, the driver was a 27-year-old woman who does not live in Hayward. She stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police told the paper they do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name, pending formal identification and notification of her family. City officials said this was Hayward’s third traffic fatality of the year.
