BART halts Transbay Tube service

BART service through the Transbay Tube came to a sudden halt Sunday due to a “loss of communication,” in the tube, the transit agency said.

The issue began just after 4 p.m., according to BART spokesperson Anna Duckworth. The agency has crews working in the tunnel, but doesn’t have details about what caused the issue or when service through the tube could be restored.

BART is running buses across the Bay Bridge between the Salesforce Transit Center and multiple locations in the East Bay, including the Downtown Berkeley BART station, near MacArthur BART station, Fruitvale, and El Cerrito, according to a map (opens in new tab) shared during the service outage.
