CHP seeks car involved in fatal pedestrian crash in East Bay

(KRON) — The California Highway Patrol is seeking the community’s assistance in identifying a white SUV that was involved in a fatal hit-and-run collision on Wednesday night in Castro Valley. A pedestrian was killed in the crash with a big rig and the unknown SUV.

The collision occurred on eastbound Interstate 580, just west of Center Street, at 9:21 p.m., CHP said. A preliminary investigation determined that the pedestrian ran onto the roadway for unknown reasons before being struck.

The identity of the victim has not been determined as of Thursday morning.

The big rig driver remained at the scene to cooperate with the investigation. The driver of the white SUV fled the scene after the crash, according to authorities…
