Runner grabbed on Redwood City trail, suspect arrested

(KRON) — A woman was running along a trail in Redwood City when she was grabbed by a stranger who asked if she was running alone, police said.

According to investigators, the sexual assault happened on the afternoon of Feb. 24 along San Francisco Bay Trail. The woman called police and officers were dispatched to search for a suspect wearing an orange sweater.“The female victim reported she had been running on the trail when she was approached by a (man) who asked her for the time and whether she was running alone. The (man) began to run alongside the victim,” the Redwood City Police Department wrote. “Shortly afterward, he unlawfully grabbed the victim before fleeing further onto the trail.”Officers deployed a drone and spotted the suspect, later identified as Carlos Garciajuarez, from the air, according to RCPD. Officers arrested him on suspicion of sexual battery.
