K-9 sniffs out $2M worth of cocaine in South Bay traffic stop

(KRON) — A speeding driver in Milpitas on Thursday was caught with a dozen kilograms of cocaine after a police K-9 alerted to the narcotics during a traffic enforcement stop, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP officer had “observed indicators of criminal activity” after pulling the driver over for speeding, authorities said. His K-9 partner, Rae, was deployed around the stopped vehicle. K-9 Rae then alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics.

A search of the vehicle uncovered approximately 12 kilograms (26.5 pounds) of cocaine with an estimated street value of $2 million, according to CHP.
