Bay Area law enforcement increasing patrols amid war in Iran

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KRON) — Law enforcement in the Bay Area is increasing patrols in response to U.S. airstrikes in Iran. The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office said on Sunday that it is stepping up high-visibility patrols around community gathering sites “to support safety and provide additional reassurance to residents.”

In a message issued by the sheriff’s office, officials said they understand “that events abroad can create ripple effects that concern our local community.” It was noted that there have been no credible threats within Santa Clara County.

“As a precaution, deputies are increasing high visibility patrols at places of worship, community centers, and other gathering sites to support safety and provide additional reassurance to residents,” the sheriff’s office wrote. “We remain in active communication with local faith leaders and community organizations so we can swiftly address any concerns or issues that may arise.”…
