(KRON) — The Fremont Police Department said an investigation is underway after dog remains were discovered in an extinguished fire on a bridge Tuesday night. No injuries were reported, and no vegetation was threatened, according to FPD.

FPD said officers were dispatched at 9:05 p.m. to investigate a report of a fire in the bike lane of a bridge near Niles Boulevard and Linda Drive.
At the scene, Fremont police officers were advised by Fremont Fire Department personnel that they had put out a small fire involving burning wood when they located the remains of a dog.
“The deceased dog was minimally burned, and at this time, it is unknown if the dog died in the fire or was deceased prior to the fire,” said Fremont police in a social media post Wednesday…
