San Mateo man guilty of murdering pregnant girlfriend, unborn baby

(KRON) — A San Mateo man was found guilty Wednesday of murdering his pregnant girlfriend and their unborn baby in the summer of 2024, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office.

Andrew Coleman, 34, was convicted of two counts of second-degree murder following a 22-day trial. The jury also found true the probation ineligibility allegations for the infliction of death in each count.

At the time of the murders, Coleman lived with his girlfriend, 37-year-old Kirsten Castle, in a duplex at 1314 South B Street in San Mateo. Prosecutors said Castle was eight months pregnant with a baby fathered by Coleman. Castle was also a mother of four from a previous marriage, according to a GoFundMe page.

On the afternoon of August 4, 2024, Castle’s 10-year-old daughter was dropped off at the duplex and discovered her mother dead in the living room. Coleman had strangled Castle to death before fleeing to Southern California in her car…
