A 10-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday afternoon after stabbing a 7-year-old at a Mountain View elementary school during an after-school program, police said.
The Mountain View Police Department said it responded at about 3:30 p.m. to reports of a child who was stabbed at Bubb Elementary School, according to a statement. When officers arrived, they placed the school on lockdown while they secured the area.
Officers then found a 7-year-old with three stab wounds to the shoulder, police said. Police believe a kitchen knife recovered at the school was used in the attack. Paramedics treated the child on scene before releasing them to a parent. Meanwhile, the 10-year-old had fled before officers arrived, prompting a search in the surrounding neighborhood.
