Two injured in Alameda bear spray incident

ALAMEDA, Calif. (KRON) — A child and an adult were injured when someone sprayed bear spray inside an apartment building in Alameda Monday afternoon, fire officials said. The two victims were transported to a hospital with inhalation injuries. Additional residents were checked by firefighters at the scene.

One resident told KRON4 that a former tenant may be behind the incident. Posters showing the former tenant’s photo were posted around the apartment building because she repeatedly caused problems there in the past, the resident said.

Unlike pepper spray, bear spray is not designed to be used against people. The non-lethal deterrent is capable of stopping aggressive bears, according to the National Park Service…
