Arrest made in local nonprofit embezzlement case

The Alameda Police Department investigated an embezzlement case involving a local nonprofit organization that began in early October. Officers discovered that a former employee allegedly embezzled about $22,000, and further investigation revealed a scheme totaling more than $460,000 over several years.

Detectives arrested the former employee last week at their residence. The case has been sent to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office for review.
