🚧 Hayward outlines new street safety actions after recent pedestrian deaths

At a March 24, 2026 work session, the Hayward Police Department shared its year-end traffic safety report and plans to make city streets safer. The report reviewed three recent fatal pedestrian crashes on Foothill Boulevard, Tennyson Road, and Mission Boulevard, and outlined steps the city will take to prevent future tragedies.

Immediate improvements are planned at 10 high-injury intersections, including Tennyson & Baldwin, Foothill & Mission, and A Street & Victory Drive, with quick-build safety fixes expected within six months. The city also plans to expand traffic enforcement on corridors like A Street, Foothill Boulevard, and W. Tennyson Road
