Speed factored into deadly Hayward Mustang crash: CHP

(KRON) — Speed played a factor in a solo vehicle crash Thursday where a driver of a Ford Mustang died after colliding into a pole followed by a tree, according to the California Highway Patrol Hayward area office.

The incident, which occurred on northbound Highway 238 near Ash Street, was reported on CHP’s traffic log at 6:10 p.m. The victim has since been confirmed as a 27-year-old man.

“The cause of death is believed to be due to the impact of the crash, but it is still under investigation,” said CHP in a statement to KRON4. “We do suspect substances were involved, but we cannot confirm until we receive a toxicology report.”
