⚠️ Invasive Yellow Fever Mosquito Found in Alameda County

The Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District has detected the invasive Aedes aegypti, or yellow fever mosquito, in Pleasanton, Dublin, Livermore, and Fremont. This species can spread diseases like dengue, Zika, and chikungunya, though no local transmission has been reported.

These mosquitoes breed in tiny amounts of water—sometimes as small as a bottle cap—and are active during the day. To help stop their spread, residents are asked to empty and scrub containers weekly, reduce outdoor clutter, repair window and door screens, and use EPA-registered repellents
