Saigon Kitchen in San Jose closed due to vermin infestation

(KRON) — A family-style Vietnamese restaurant in San Jose was ordered closed this week due to an infestation of vermin. Rodent droppings and roaches were found during an inspection of Saigon Kitchen on Story Road, according to the County of Santa Clara Department of Environmental Health.

A notice posted by the department indicates that the inspection turned up dead cockroaches on the wall next to the back door and preparation sink. A live roach was also observed on mechanical warewash and another was seen on a blender in the corner of the bar.

Rodent droppings were found throughout the restaurant, including around a hole behind the water heater, around the stairs, in the facility’s back area, on the floor, on a lid at the three-compartment sink area, behind the ice machine in the front bar area, and behind and around shelves and mechanical warewash in the bar.

The department said that during the inspection, the person in charge, owner Tuyen Vo, was ordered to close the restaurant immediately. The restaurant is ordered to remain closed until the vermin infestation is completely abated, the department said…
